"Internal only" email on Office365


I administer a site that uses Office365 for email. It is NOT AD integrated.

A request has been made to set up a user mailbox that can only communicate with others in the company. Ie, Fred@company.com can send to mary@company.com, Joe@company.com, George@company.com, and also receive email send to him form these people. Fred@company.com CANNOT send or receive email to/from Jill@someothercompany.com, Tony@yetanothercompany.com ect.

Can this be done?

yes it can. You need to create a rule on exchange, that will block all email going from Fred@company.com to Outside of organization, or from Outside to Fred@company.com.

Log into Exchange, Mail flow --> Rules --> "Create new rule"  --> Chose more options...

Follow the picture that is attached. That rule will block email from  Fred@company.com to Outside of organization.
Create one more rule with opposite direction, where recipient is Fred@company.com and sender is from Outside of organization.

There you go.
