We locate the setting for columns and choose 2 columns. I can type text in the left column. Or i can paste an image into column one.
No luck try to start text at the top of column two. How to do?

Column break did it.
However the text that I had typed on 1/2 of a line in column 1, started top of column 2. Then the photo was copied into column 1.
Pause on wraps, tables, positions pending getting the proper size of photo.

I printed it and the photo does not measure 3x5 like it was when saved from Irfanview. I'll have to widen it and make it taller to fill more of the left column that does end before it reaches half the page. The other methods like tables, etc. likely won't be needed. I noticed while I was typing in the right column and after pasting the photo to column one, that click inside the photo, it does wrap the image. But, unlike the other way to get wrapping the cursor or marker to begin text does turn up bottom right of the photo, but can be moved back to the top right.

If this can not be done after more days of trial and error. I may have to print the photo, type the text, print both out, cut extra with scissors, glue to 5 x 8 card and laminate that. That wont' make it look as well as I'd want but..............trying to learn all the settings on Word would take too long.
- I really can't understand the problem from the description of it.

could you please upload the file & i will have a look at it (NOT a screenshot, the actual docx file that you are talking about)?

could you also please upload the image you are working with SEPARATELY even if it is in the docx file?

When printed this is very close to what I need. Can I go back to column one and put the name of the person under the photo?
Biography-here-and-font-changed-so-.docx
go to the beginning of the text (place the cursor just before the B of Biography )

use the left pointing arrow on the keyboard to go back one space

press the Enter key

set the Font size to 18

write the name under the pic

press the Enter key again

go back to the line with the name

set the paragraph alignment to Centered

Here is the result.

Just saying: anything (image OR text) BEFORE the column break will be in the left-hand column, everything AFTER column break will be in the right-hand column.
