On a MacAir 10.10.5 with Acrobat 10.1.16 and Firefox 48 and Safari, the Acrobat Plug-in Create PDF could not be verified for use. And I can find no way to update it or get its signature verified. Stuck. Thanks.

About the first thing I do on any Mac is to use the disk utility to verify the disk, verify permissions, and then to repair permissions.  Almost very Mac I see has permissions issues.
Afterwards, try repairing Acrobat.

Did as you suggested with the disk utility. There does not seem to be a way to repair Acrobat XI on the mac. No "repair" button under help. I'm guessing that I'll have to uninstall, reinstall, then apply the updates??????

Yes, there is no adobe plug-in icon in additional tools and features. And there seems to be no way to update the plug-in.

If there were any permissions issues, it may well be worth trying the uninstall/reinstall; but, beginning with Firefox 44, addons/plugins have to be signed by Mozilla or they won't work.  I did find that printing to PDF should.
