AX, NAV and GP are all ERP/Accounting systems that were originally acquired by Microsoft many years ago. They each have varying strengths and you need to review the Microsoft product documentation against your needs. You should also examine the licensing model for each.

Having said that, I think GP and NAV tend to be used by smaller businesses than AX.

Can you be more specific? Or a bit more details of actual differences? Let's say we need to do just your every day accounting  transactions including printing invoices and purchases orders; the basics.  We know that all accounting apps can do these transactions.  That said, if one is thinking  of buying ax, navy or go, what is the differences that should one consider?

I can't provide detailed differences, I do recommend that you review the Microsoft website information. For example, this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/dynamics/erp-gp-overview.aspx#Capabilities has detailed information on GP.
You might also benefit from engaging from a Microsoft ERP partner in your area who can suggest the best solution for your needs.
