Just tried perfmon for the first time.<br />

I used a basic collector set template and a bunch of xml files were created. &nbsp;<br />
I then opened the xml files with performance counter. &nbsp;it seems to be operational.<br />

there are a ton of counters that were in the graph.<br />
can anyone tell me what counters to add to a customized collector set that will show me the basic metrics I need to pinpoint most server related issues.... There are just a lot of counters in the provided templates.<br />
I'd obviously like to know.... &nbsp; proc, ram, disk io... and identify if these are not up to the task of the &nbsp;apps running on the server.<br />
bonus... can I pinpoint the application that is spiking server resource usage with a collector set?<br />

extra bonus bonus.... I'd also like some recommended performance counters for a sql server and web server.
