3-hosted iSeries client partitions - how to backup to single tape libaray

I have a 8202-E4D with a single physical partition - on that physical partition I am running 3  hosted client partitions. I am using this for multiple iTerra backup partitions, each partition mirrors a physical machine(Europe,China,North America). I want to backup the 3 hosted partitions to a single attached tape library. The library is attached to a single SCSI controller but I can't dynamically swap that to the hosted partitions because they can't host physical devices.

I think what I need to do is put a virtual SCSI adapter in each hosted partition pointed to the  physical adapter in the physical partition - but I am not sure how I make them not interfere with each other, IE multiple partitions trying to vary on and use the same physical device. I know I have to obviously time the backups to not interfere but I have to spread them out to not overlap, since the library has barcode reader to I can programatically move tapes around fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

IBM i OS version and specific tape library matter.  What are they?

I haven't set many of these up, but I think that when you configure the device across multiple partitions, you specify a priority.

Here's a good IBM resource that may answer some of your questions:

V7R2 on all machines, library is a TS2900 w/LTO5 drive.

I hadn't found that particular PDF but it explains the virtualization like I thought it should work, but hadn't been sure. I have not done a setup like this one either, but the setup is so the backup of the iTerra partition can allow the production partition to minimize it's backup window.

That plus the production sides are all getting Cybernetic's Disk Backup setups to speed them up. I have really come to like the Cybernetics boxes, use them in several banks w/mirror to a central cybernetics setup so it's a hot site function that is also encrypted. This tape setup is also the archival part of the corporate strategy as well. Not to mention the issues with getting archive backups internationally being resolved at a central site that is controlled by corporate IT.

I am going to review the PDF closely and try to find the priority stuff. That is my biggest concern at this point.
