I use USB relay boards (manufactured by Velleman) on our bespoke retail system and they install to a virtual COM port and have worked like a charm on various pcs / with Visual Basic / VBA for some years. I have these installed in 8 premises without a problem on Windows 7 & 8.1 machines.
The latest batch of PCs we've purchased are Windows 10 of course which didn't seem like a problem but now I've found that although the serial port shows in device manager as expected, and I can control the board as before, I cannot seem to get any input from the port. Normally when I press a button on the board, a data packet is received but now there is nothing. Without looking into the driver software, is there any Windows 10 reason anyone knows of which might block such input for example?
Any thoughts most welcome, thanks.
