VPN Access to company server hostname dns resolve issue.

We setup the VPN gateway in our company FW to allow remote office to access our internal web server and the VPN dns server we are configure to use our internal DNS .Our company internal domain name is abc.local. During we do our testing in internal office i can access the portal using http://web/portal but in remote office connected with VPN we must used http://web.abc.local/portal .Please advice any way to allow external user to use http://web/portal to access to internal web server.

In your group-policy do you have "default-domain value abc.local" defined?

MO
Also do you have a WINS value specified in your group-policy that points to your WINS server?

That is related to VPN why is related to GPO. I has no problem using IP Address and abc.singapore.local access remote site connected with VPN.

My user intention is want to allow remote users to use abc to access the server instead of abc.singapore.local

For your information, our DNS server remote VPN policy is pointing to our local domain controller.
Yes, do you have WINS setup under your VPN group-policy on the ASA? You should have WINS installed on your local domain controller and the wins value in the VPN group-policy set to point at the local domain controller as well.

May I Know there is additional to install the WINS server or during we doing dcpromo as domain controller is include this service.?
It's a "Feature". From server manager add the feature.

MO
Okay..Got It..may i know any risk if i enable this features ? Because our Firewall vendor said that WINS now days nobody use for it and try to avoid use that. Please advise ,out software vendor is correct ?
