Is Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance(DMARC) a configuration on my public DNS only?  Do I need to configure anything on my email gateway?

Thanks.

DMARC is setup through your DNS. You don't have to make any changes to your email server.

Make sure you have an SPF and DKIM record setup before setting up DMARC

Do you have a sample of how a DMARC record looks like?

I have both SPF and DKIM already setup.

Here is an example of a record on a BIND DNS server...

_dmarc.domain.com. IN TXT "v=DMARC1; p=quarantine; pct=100; rua=mailto:user@domain.com"

Replace domain.com with your domain and replace user@domain.com with your email address.

There are other options available when setting up a DMARC record. You can read about them here.
