As above. Can animation be applied in Master Slide view to go on all slides rather than applying individually?

Oh, sorry -- didn't realize you were asking how! It's just like adding animation on a slide, but you're adding it to the slide master (or layout) instead.

I don't know if there is a link that shows adding animation specifically in Master View, but here's how to do it in PPT 2016. Other versions will be similar.

1. open your presentation
2. choose View | Slide Master to change to master view
3. In Master View, choose either the master slide (the big thumbnail) to apply settings to all the content placeholders throughout the deck or choose a specific layout (the small thumbnail) and then the animation you create will apply to slides based on that layout.

4. Select the object you want to animate. In this case I selected the content placeholder on one of the slide layouts

5. Click the Animations tab and then choose an animation from the gallery. (Or you can use the Add Animation button on the Animations tab, which is actually a better habit to develop.)

6. When you're finished, go to the Slide Master tab and click Close Master View, or go to the View tab and click Normal View to return to Normal (editing) View.

7. Test in slide show view
