Office document View in Browser from sharepoint

I have problem in MAC OS. Office 2016 (word/excel) is not able to "view in browser" when open from sharepoint. Any clue?.

Do you mean you can't see it in file preview pane of the OS file explorer?

maybe the document has something that is not supported in that browser for example features which are unsupported in a browser window ...
Can you open it from a desktop version of Office 2016? (not via sharepoint)

Have you installed the office apps for use when on the portal (via sharepoint)?

We installed Office Web App feature in sharepoint. now I can view the office doc sin browser. but not able to edit. Getting a license error "you do not have license to edit documents with word web app. Please contact administrator". Any idea is this office 2016 need the license or its a limitation with this version?.

The document needs to be shared with you in order for you to be able to edit online.
Then, you must check it out first, edit it (online if you want) and then check it back in
