When I scan photographs fro the flat bed to my PC via the USB, it appears as an internet explorer symbol which I can't open. How do I get it to transmit the photo as a jpeg?    PC is running Windows 10.

You need the software package from Brother that includes the Scanner software. That will allow you to scan to PDF or other format.

I suspect you've upgraded your computer to Windows 10.

Uninstall your present Brother drivers and then reinstall.

Follow the instructions here http://support.brother.com/g/b/faqend.aspx?c=us_ot&lang=en&prod=mfcj4510dw_us_eu_as&faqid=faq00100170_000

The files should be jpg's. To tell Win 10 to open them, right click one of them and select "Open with".  Tick "always use this application" and then select your preferred application.
