remote desktop drops connection
I have a remote desktop infrastructure entirely contained within a Virtual Private Cloud in Amazon Web Services. This configuration has High Availability connection brokers and several server farms. Every day or every other day my end users will tell me they lose their connection to their hosting server but it comes right back in about 1 -2 seconds. The hosting server could be any one of 12 different virtual servers in the farm. I know it's not a hardware issue because we have 2 offices in 2 different physical locations, each office connects back to the Amazon cloud through their individual VPN respectively so everyone is connecting to the same server farm. This disconnect will happen to everyone in both offices at about the same time, give or take about 30 seconds.
All servers in this scenario are Windows 2012R2

I have been unable to get it to be stable for more than a week. 36 hours at best. I've changed the time frame from 7 hours to 48 hours yesterday to see if that has any affect.
I'm starting to wonder if it may be related to my DHCP lease time. My DHCP server runs on a Sonicwall appliance rather than a MS based DHCP server. I work remotely and never have this issue, but my DHCP is handed to me by my home router, not the Sonicwall. Other remote workers are just as stable. It seems to only affect office workers.
If my above test has no affect I may try starting a virtual DHCP server and disable DHCP on the Sonicwall Appliance.

Most routers have a setting for the DHCP lease time. Have you checked that?

Yes, it's set to 120 minutes.
The normal for most home routers is 2 days.

Sorry for long delay on this, but I believe this issue is related to my ISP. It seems to happen whenever my bandwidth becomes overloaded. Throttling bandwidth usage to my end users appears to have stabilized my environment.

I actually made a change to my group policy to change the default update time from default of 90 minutes to 7 hours with a 15 minute offset for each server. Yesterday we did not experience the issue. If I get a solid week of no disconnects I think this might prove to be the answer.
