I can't figure out my cost if I have two users who create surveys, perhaps thousands of salesmen walking around with smart phones serving up my surveys to hundreds to thousands of users.

I have no idea how the pricing works, so can someone help?

Thanks

SurveyMonkey is probably one of the cheapest commercial survey solutions out there. Easy to setup, easy to deploy, easy to support. At $25/user/month ($300/yr annual billing), it does quite a lot for what it is. Doesn't really have decent branching logic for surveying; but it makes reporting on results easy. You can use their built-in dashboards for reporting, or export the results to CSV or Access db.

You can setup Google Sheets (free) to collect data like a survey form; and it is not that flexible with how data colleciton goes (collects to a spreadsheet), and deployment is manual at all aspects of creating the survey questions, sending out the link for the survey, etc. The surveys (and subsequent Google spreadsheets that these are stored on) are stored with the Google account that creates them. Though Google allows this to be shared with anyone, users with the link, or to keep the results private.

If one user is all that's needed to write the surveys and if the gold service is purchased (at $300/year) does that mean an unlimited number of people can take the surveys?

For SurveyMonkey, yes, it collects an unlimited number of responses.

For Google Sheets, I don't believe there are any restrictions on who or how many.

Oh, Google Sheets is an alternative to SurveyMonkey?

Does Google Sheets support branching? That will be important to me.

Google Sheets is as basic as it gets, some people use its Form creation feature to make surveys but it does not support branching.
