Have you tried?

Make sure the user is a member of AD on the server.
Start up the Windows 10 Pro computer.

Go to Control Panel, Advanced System Settings, Computer Name, then where it says Join a Domain, click on Change and join the domain.

All of our servers are now Server 2012 but my own Windows 10 Pro computer can RDP into Server 2008.

Yes, you can. But RWW will not work. The version differences are just too great, and 2008 has been in extended support for a few years now, so feature enhancements are not at all on the roadmap.
