Whatsapp msg read notification

What are the rules surrounding the whatsapp msg read notification?   If I don't read a reply from one sender but view other people's reply msgs, will the reader's whose msg I ignored see a) that I haven't read his msg and b) the last time I looked at whatsapp in general?

As I mentioned in my last post, you will only have those receipt if you are sender of that message. You can see it in the message info if you hold onto the message and click on the info icon to see the receipts.

Even then, there is means to even hide away the receipt from the sender by disabling the receipt notification - the caveat you will not be able to see read receipts from your friends either, so you won't know whether they have read your messages . http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/technology-science/technology/how-cheat-whatsapps-read-receipts-7181613

As a whole, if you are not the sender of the message, you have no way to know it from the apps.

Do check out whatsapps config and explanation  - https://www.whatsapp.com/faq/en/android/28000015
If you see two blue check marks  next to your sent message, then the recipient has read your message. In a group chat or broadcast message, the check marks will turn blue when every participant has read your message.

To opt out of the Read Receipts feature, go to Settings > Account > Privacy and uncheck Read Receipts.

Note: This will not disable the Read Receipts for Group Chats or Play Receipts for Voice Messages. There is no way to turn off these features.

Thanks for your reply but I think you misread my messages. I'm trying to understand in what situations people can see that I have looked at WhatsApp but not necessarily their messages.
