Index report to Summary Report

Hi Guys,

I am working on Crystal Reports 11 and trying to achieve a functionality where I have a Index report which has a unique numbering field called NCR Number and trying to link this unique field which is there in a detail report too. I want when I click on the index report NCR Number it should open the detail report showing the details of the NCR. Please suggest how to achieve this functionality.

You can use an ON DEMAND subreport.

But how do I link the NCR numberss in both the reports? Can I have a functionality where i click on the Ncr number and the detail report opens up. The solution you suggested will show the on demand sub report as a seperate link.
You can link the subreport on any field in the main report to limit (filter) to the required data.

You can format the subreport as ON DEAMN (last tab).  You can then add a field to be displayed in the subreport spot.

Look at this sample

I got you, but when I try to link the reports by the field the data in detail report disappears. And how to add a field to display in the subreport spot?

This worked, I have a hyperlink on each NCR number, but it opens the whole sub-report not the NCR sub report. Can you help on this?

I think I need to link both the reports on a field but when I do that the data disappears from the detail report or the sub report

I was selecting the wrong value in the link. I figured it out. Thanks for the support.

Crystal Reports is a business intelligence application from SAP SE. It is used to graphically design data connections and report layouts from a wide range of data sources including Excel spreadsheets, Oracle, SQL Server databases and Access databases, BusinessObjects Enterprise business views, and local file-system information. Report designers can place fields from these sources on the report design surface, and can also deploy them in custom formulas (using either BASIC or Crystal's own syntax), which are then placed on the design surface. Crystal Reports also supports subreports, graphing, and a limited amount of GIS functionality.
