Whats up with Windows 7 updates all of a sudden???

Hi all :)

For a while now I have been noticing issues with the windows update function in Win 7 pro.

I do a clean reload of win7 on a desktop or laptop (usually HP). Go to windows update and either it sits on checking for updates forever (like overnight) or I just get an error saying it cant update.

Has anyone else had this happening??

First make sure you are at SP1. If not download it and install it.
Then run the following 2 updates and try again after the restart.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949104
and
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3102810

KB3102810 may have been installed July or August Patch Tuesday, but DO install KB949104

Run Windows Updates and restart at the end.

After that, if updates seem to run "forever", set Automatic Updates to Never, shut down, start up and then set back to Automatic. Updates will start running. Leave Overnight. Do this now so you can let the computer run overnight. Tomorrow, updates should be done.

Thanks for the update and I was happy to help.  These fixes are from Microsoft and it was Rindi here who pointed us to the fixes.
