Sharepoint to FTP?

I had this question after viewing How do i sync Sharepoint to FTP?.

I have a legacy order entry application in MS Access which submits orders as a text file after bring punched in, via FTP. On the other end, the host polls the customer folders, pulling in the orders. The time has come to modify this to work in SharePont. I'm obviously going to have to rebuild this because of the outdated technologies and references. What I would like to know is, can I have this application export the text file to customer directories within Sharepoint, and have the host just pole these directories, thereby eliminating the FTP need entirely?

You can treat libraries in SharePoint as network folders/mapped drives. So it's easy to write content direct to any library you wish.

If a server operating system is being used on the machine where mapping the drive then you must install the 'Desktop Experience Windows feature' which server O/S don't have by default.

So... In effect, I could have to order entry system export its text file to a directory of client folders, and the host application poll these folders instead... Thank you for the verification. I really appreciate it.
