Can't manage Facebook account but it still exists

Facebook treats attempts to log into long existing account as if starting a new account. Provides a startup wizard: "How do you want to use this account", "Let;s get started", etc. But the account exists and can be see by other users. Just can't log in to manage it. No odd content or reason for action by Facebook. This is one of those "What do i do now" situations. Anyone with insight into the land of FB?

How was the account setup? Was it a company business page? A group page? Personal user account?

I apologise for being away from this for so long. I think i haven't described the problem well enough. When i log-in with the usual un & pw, i'm greeted with this...

Making a selection and clicking "Continue" presents a screen that says "Let's get started", but i don't want to 'get started' since there's already a lot of content that is still visible on the account to Friends/Fans. I'm trying to decide if i'm going to end-up deleting everything and starting a whole new FB presence, of if FB is simply asking me to state the usage i intend and is going to leave all the content in-tact. The account has been active for a fairly long time and has never had any problems with FB. It does have a good following that would be worth keeping.
If it's not a personal account, don't select the top one. If it's a business page, select the middle option; and if you want to enable other FB users to share in the admin of the account, select the third option.
