Why does Symantec Endpoint Protection show as 'disabled' after install

After installing Symantec Endpoint Protection 12.1.6867.6700 RU6 MP4 on a Mac OS X 10.11 system, the 'antivirus' and 'network protection' shows up as 'disabled.'  When I try to 'enable' it (using toggle button), it immediately switches back to 'disabled.'

Any suggestions?

See if MP5 is out for the MAC. That is what I am using on my Windows 10 machine and it was just recently updated for all the Windows updates. There may be a similar update out for MAC.
