oracle global variables
Hi Experts,
Got a fundamental query on oracle global variable declared in a package header.
I have a client server application with Delphi as client front end and oracle as backend tool.
I have global variables declared in oracle package header, so how and when the variables are available to the application memory space?
Are those available at startup of the application when the db connection gets established or when the package is called?

What are you trying to solve ?
If you want changing variables to publish to other sessions then you need the listener/Observer pattern

It would be a billion times better to declare global variables in the delphi app
For oracle you would need an enterprise edition and result_cache feature to get any good performance.
Believe me ... You're heading straight for a nightmare with that setup.
I've had to fix multiple such design mistakes
