Do I need to buy only for the Deskjet 460 or its also compatible with other brand printers?

HP network cards are generally not interchangeable between HP printers. I have not seen that at all.

You need to purchase the exact HP card for the unit. Cheap maybe on eBay, otherwise not cheap.

They do appear on eBay occasionally.

Not cheap as John says.   A quick search reveals only Amazon https://www.amazon.com/802-11G-Wireless-Printer-Printers-HEWCB001A/dp/B000F1WHK0 for a brand new item.

The reviews of the card aren't that great with many of them complaining they can't get it working.
