Will the PlayStation VR headset ever be available to use on older models of PlayStation systems?

The new PlayStation VR will be available to play on the PlayStation 4. If others have older models of the PlayStation such as PlayStation 3, will this headset be able to connect those models? If not, will the PlayStation company ever make the headset advanced enough to connect to other systems?

Absolutely not, the hardware is so different on the PS4 it's simply not in Sony's interest to start making new components for their older consoles.  Similarly the VR supported PS4 games won't run on earlier consoles because, well they are coded for the PS4 so even if you get a VR headset that will display the generic console video output all the headset will do is act as a small TV.

No.  It was designed only with the PS4 only in mind.

No.  See paragraph above.  The headset has to transmit data back to the console.  No earlier console has the ability to receive that data.  Also no earlier console has the power required to handle the VR requirements.
