File Explorer (Windows 10) opens and then crashes immediately

When I open File Explorer, it immediately closes down as if it has crashed followed by a restart of File Explorer. (The system tray is repopulated for instance.) I found a workaround here:
https://support.4it.com.au/article/file-explorer-opens-closes-immediately-windows-10-due-quick-access/
It works for me. However, it does only see a workaround. I am wondering if anyone could help to explain why there is a problem with Quick Access. For instance, if it had been caused by a virus, I definitely need to know that.
Thank you

Unlikely to be malware as it ia commonly experienced by others. See below.
- Check on the file causing Explorer appl to crash and probably some systems files to be expected.
- Clear Quick Access by going to FileExplorer-->Right Click "Quick Access" on the Navigation Panel-->"Options"-->"Clear"&"Restore Defaults"

Also run SFC /SCANNOW, allow to complete, restart and test again.

Did sfc /scannow in a command window (as administrator). No integrity violations. Why restart and test again?

btan, that worked. Thank you.
