shell script to send sms

Hi - Is there any way to send mobile sms using shell script based on a condition.

if [[ $var1 -eq 1 ]]; then
echo "Run script to send sms to mobile"
fi

when i googled it I got this command
curl http://textbelt.com/text -d number=5551551555 -d "message=hello from OSXDaily.com"

but how secure is textbelt and also does textbelt has any limitations..
is there any other way other than this, if so can you provide an example

Thanks,

basically you can do anything with scripting
it depends what's setup behind the scenes ...

i have an app, which takes parameters like phone number and text
from the prompt:
sendsms 0123456789 "any piece of text"
connects to a database and inserts a record
and that record gets processed by another app connected to a gsm modem
and feeds the modem the phone number and text
resulting in sending of an sms

a setup like this can also be bought:

http://www.sms4mail.com/smsmail/smscmd.php
http://linuxgazette.net/164/tomar.html

the solutions are never free
