If you don't like SolarWinds, look at "What's up Gold" or LibreNMS.  What's up Gold (Wug) is a cheaper alternative.  And LibreNMS is free.

Both are monitoring right?
Dameware is more of a management tool.

These days, they all monitor and manage the network.  Monitoring is done through SNMP, and they manage the configurations by tracking changes and backing up the configs.
