Windows 10 anniversary update and wireless keyboard/mouse reboot error.
Several of my computers were updated with the Windows 10 Anniversary update, and they repeatedly reboot indicating an irq error. First, I installed the updated drivers, and that did nothing. I even tried removing the keyboard/mouse software altogether but leaving the wireless keyboard and mouse connected, but the machines still will not boot. I wound up connecting a wired keyboard and mouse and it boots and operates fine.
Since wireless keyboards and mice are susceptible to hacks, I was just going to replace all them with wired ones to avoid any sort of compromise. I just went to Microsoft's website and they offer a Wireless Comfort Desktop 5050 which indicates it has AES encryption to secure keystrokes, etc. I just would hate to make this purchase, and the machines incur the same reboot blue screen issue mentioned above. Not sure if this is a known issue or whether there is a fix for it.

I know it's irrelevant in this discussion, but the Anniversary update deleted my printer. At least a re-install worked fine.
I also found that the upgrade would not run automatically. For 3 days in a row the PC said it was upgrading when I shut down. Finally I went to Windows Upgrade and found a message that said the upgrade required a reboot. I clicked the reboot link provided, and the install went through...

John - thanks for your help. I purchased and installed a bunch of Microsoft 5050 keyboard/mouse combos, and are all working fine. I wanted these particular wireless devices since they offer AES 128-bit encryption. Since they only cost $45.00 on sale at BestBuy it was a no brainer. Thanks again.
You are very welcome and I was happy to help.

Unfortunately, I am now getting the same keyboard error with the new Microsoft 5050 keyboard/mouse combo. It started this morning. This was very frustrating and a complete nuisance. I discovered the issue is with Webroot's Identity shield. I enabled "Enable identity shield compatibility mode" setting, and now no more keyboard stopcodes.
Try yet a different keyboard to see if that can change things.
