Experts:   Is there any website  where I can  make comparison of similar  servers/products.
For example:
1.  I want to  find/compare DELL EQUALLOGIC PS6210E or  DELL DR 4300  with other companies offering the same product.
2.  I want to find companies who offer similar products like DELL EQUALLOGIC PS 6201E or DELL DR 4300

Thank you.

What kind of comparison are you looking for? The IDG buyers guide just goes off published spec sheets, and doesn't include things like how well something actually works, or how easy it is to use.

I can tell you I like to read Storage Magazine for trends and such. There is great discussion from users and vendors on another site I am at a lot.  It might be against ToS to mention it, but lets just say that there is a company that does free helpdesk and networking inventory software that has a spicy community section.

I would advise against EqualLogic. It was great 10 years ago,  but that snapshots are nearly useless because block is 15 MB,  and Dell is going to kill it. They were going to kill EqualLogic and move everyone to their Compellent platform, and that was before the EMC purchase.

As an owner of both, I can tell you that Nimble Storage has a much better platform.

SAN, or at least traditional SAN may not be the best for you. Can't say without knowing more about your environment and requirements.

It looks like the Dell DR 4300 is a deduplication backup target, much like the industry pioneer Data Domain, which Dell also now owns via EMC. I suspect that product will get killed too at some point.

Thank  you for your very helpful answers.   Of course the IDG buyers guide is good provided I know the various products associated with a specific technology.   So my guess is there is no website available where  I throw my specs and will recommend a specific product from any vendor.

Comparison shopping for storage technology is notoriously difficult as the vendors try really hard not to make it a commodity buying process.

I really suggest you look at the spicy community site I recommended earlier. Feel free to post what your needs are, what you are considering, and then for alternatives. If you don't offer up your needs first, you will get push back from the community that you need to start there, and be forewarned that many people will say that you don't need SAN until you hit massive scale, and that other alternatives like replicated server storage (VMware vSAN, Starwind Software Virtual SAN, SimpliVity, Scale Computing, etc.) is a better fit.
