SharePoint 2016 Site search does not work

We are experiencing an issue with searching anything on our Sharepoint 2016 test site. Even on the main page or main sites nothing is searchable. Our lists are not searchable either and they are indexed. Am I missing a setting that needs to be enabled?

This is a common misconfiguration problem. You can make adjustments to correct. In your second screenshot, add a wildcard to your search and you will get results probably.

Thanks, hope you got it working.

The answer to your questions is "yes". You are missing something. The recommendation are intended to maybe provided information that will help you find the solution. In most cases, the solution is not going to be: "Push this button and it all starts to work perfectly". The solution has to come from you, the person right there at the environment. All I can do is support. For example, I let you know this is a common problem, but the exact solution for you will differ from most every other SharePoint set up. The answer about the wildcard, is a valid point. Not sure if you tried to use a wild card, but often I have seen search declared as broken because no results were found, but when a search term that produces results was used, then it was shown that search was not really broken.
