I have a client's Dell PoweredgeT430 that I inherited from a previous IT guy. Â I am trying to update the BIOS and get this error. Â Any suggestions?
My impetus is the fans are going full speed after a recent reboot.
Server is running Windows Server 2012.
Thanks!

Correct. I merely downloaded the BIOS update package from the support.dell.com website, double clicked and launched the installer. Â Shortly after I get the error message.
I even ran the BIOS installation file as an Administrator.
If fans are running overspeed, imo it is more likely there is a temperature issue and that possibility should be investigated first.

Again. Merely restarting the server is what triggered the fans on high. Â If you have a better solution to address this please let me know.
Here's a link to the download: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=2KYJY&fileId=3445763724&osCode=WS8R2&productCode=poweredge-t420&languageCode=en&categoryId=BI
I used the latest download available. Clearly states Windows...
The server boots and says iDRAC not setup. Â Does this mean that the server is actually a VM and this is why I can't upgrade the BIOS? Â Is there another reason why the fans are at 100%? Â
Again, the fans started maxing out after I did a hard shut-down of the server.

Thanks for your reply! I'll get on the horn with Dell support. Â I believe it is under warranty
andyadler did answer the question correctly. Â The issue was the motherboard and it had to be replaced.

Servers are computing devices that are similar to desktop computers in that they have the same basic components, but are significantly different in size, configuration and purpose. Servers are usually accessed over a network, and many run unattended, without a computer monitor, input device, audio hardware or USB interfaces. Many servers do not have a graphical user interface (GUI), and are configured and managed remotely. Servers typically include hardware redundancy such as dual power supplies, RAID disk systems, and ECC memory, along with extensive pre-boot memory testing and verification. Critical components might be hot swappable, and to guard against overheating, servers might have more powerful fans or use water cooling.
