Spacing between <li>

I need help figuring out how to reduce the line spacing. I have tried negative margin and padding as well as line-height with no luck. Any other ideas is appreciated.

The edit button has a fixed height of 100px, which needs to be removed:
<li style="height: 100px;"><a href="edit.php?edit=41">edit</a></li>

Once that's removed, it's just the padding that's controlling the spacing between items.
