I am trying to create a report with Visual Studio and sql server data tools.  I connect to the data source (northwind) with no problems and then i go to the query designer and try to add tables.  That is when I get this error - I can't find anything googling.

Any help is appreciated - this is a local sql 2014 express on a laptop with visual studio 2012 - no external server connection

This assembly is not there on your machine.  Microsoft.SqlServer.management.sdk.sfc version 11.0.0.0

Download the update from Microsoft.

I found this link and followed the directions - I can't get past step 2 because I get an error saying my versions are higher and they have to be uninstalled first - also I am using sql 2014 and they keep referencing sql 2012

After some research it looks like uninstalling sql 2014 and installing 2012 is the fastest way to resolve this problem.  The SQL version does not matter in this situation.
