Hi Folks any good free utility to recover the files from a corrupted USB HDD. NTFS got corrupted.

Why dont you try Recuva or Wise Data Recovery

You could try removing the hard disk from the usb caddy and connecting it directly to a PC.
That will eliminate the caddy/psu as a possible source of the problem.

Check to see if the disk is visible in windows Disk Management

If there is a problem with the partition you could try Testdisk
TestDisk is powerful free data recovery software! It was primarily designed to help recover lost partitions

The best free recovery tool is Photorec. It is included on the PCRepix LiveDVD (and also with several other Linux Distro's):

GetDataBack from Runtime software is free to try, and has worked on a couple of disks that Recuva and other packages failed on.  However, it costs money to actually DO the recovery, but it will show you the files that are it can get to, for free.

I wouldn't try anything else...
