eFax -- porting # out fails ?

We recently purchase a company and they have some old eFax numbers I want to port out to https://www.ringcentral.com, but eFax said I cannot since their https://en.efax.com/CustomerAgreement states that the number is owned by eFax and cannot be ported out

 1. Any way we can get around this LEGAL bull ?
 2. If not, any way to play something like a "this number has changed to ............ for about 1yr" ?

1) Sorry, but it's legit from a legal standpoint. Non-telephone services are not covered by the Telecommunications Act in terms of phone number portability. Most landline and wireless carriers are, while there are some that have waivers. You might not like it, but it's perfectly legal.

2) And there's no way you can do that either. Remember that eFax is designed to forward only to email addresses, so you don't even have that option.

Ringcentral is inexpensive for their service, but they're not great from a quality aspect. I'd sooner recommend 8x8 for a business VoIP.
