Mac Book status bar not visible after SnowLeopard Update

I have a MAC that I just installed Snow Leopard.

When I run updates and it tries to install: OS 10.6.8 , when it restarts it stays on wallpaper screen - no status bar.

How can I fix this?

If 2 == YES .. then I'd be recommending a re-install as indicated in 3    ... IF you cannot get into the system preferences and modify the display settings.

Others may have alternative suggestions if you want to wait and see .. I think the issue is more than a simple repair of permissions or system check will address.

I selected More Details on the check for updates .. selected all but OS update .. they installed ok

Then after the restart I selected the OS update and it worked.

All good - - Thanks,
