I have a client that has Dentrix G4 and they are planning on upgrading to G6. Right now, their DB needs to be backed up due to a box popping up on each workstation about the image database needs to be backed up. Is there not a way to perform a backup via the Dentrix software or do I have to recommend a 3rd party?  They have SQL 2005 express I believe.

Not sure about how Dentrix works, but more than likely you can run a SQL Native backup in the SQL Express Management console to resolve the issue. If the Dentrix install doesn't include the SQL Express Management console, run a google search for SQL 2005 Express management tools and you should be able to get a copy of it installed.

However, I would highly recommend contacting Dentrix's support team to verify that, though.
