I have an excel file which has data for a date column '23-SEP-15'
How to format this to 09/23/2015

Press ctrl+1 to go to cell formatting.  Select "Date" for the category and the format should be the first in the list.

No, I take that back. In my case, it's the 5th option "03/14/01". The first option will truncate off the first "0" in the month.

Weird.

I was able to fix it by going into the cell, then hitting F2 and Enter.
