Windows 10 Laptop very slow
Running Windows 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586.589)
6 GB RAM. Under processor, I have 4 x 2. 30Ghz Intel Core.
Computer is very slow. If I go to Task Manager:
The disk is running 100% all the time.Biggest user is Service Host: Local System (Network Restricted).
Not sure what that is.
Any ideas how to speed this up?

Thanks will check it out. Based on my hardware, I should not see these issues correct?
Under resource manager Disk. what is your disk queue? What hard drive do you have ? 5400 rpm?
I see you have Sygate installed.
Kill that process or uninstall.
The first place I always look are security programs

did windows 10 run fine before?
or did you do an upgrade to win10 - and this happened?
you can also test ram and disk - to be sure about the basics; i use the UBCD for this :
Hardware diagnostic CD UBCD
-------------------------- ---------- ---------- -----
go to the download page, scroll down to the mirror section, and click on a mirror to start the download
Download the UBCD and make the cd <<==on a WORKING PC, and boot the problem PC from it
Here 2 links, one to the general site, and a direct link to the download
since the downloaded file is an ISO file, eg ubcd527.iso - so you need to use an ISO burning tool
if you don't have that software, install cdburnerXP : http://cdburnerxp.se/
If you want also the Ram tested - run memtest86+ at least 1 full pass, - you should have NO errors!
For disk Diagnostics run the disk diag for your disk brand (eg seagate diag for seagate drive) from the HDD section - long or advanced diag ! (runs at least for30 minutes)
http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/
** you can make a bootable cd - or bootable usb stick
*** note *** for SSD drives use the tool from the manufacturer, like intel 's toolbox :

for completeness -here's how i handle disk problems : https://www.experts-exchange.com/Storage/Hard_Drives/A_3000-The-bad-hard-disk-problem.html

The issue Alex laid out is disk, and so something is running all the time that is disk intensive.
Please let us know what happened with the Virus scan

I also see peerunity.exe grabbing about 10% CPU ,uninstall or kill it
I also see peerunity.exe grabbing about 10% CPU ,uninstall or kill it
If I do that, I won't be able to mint. In any case, peerunity is CPU intensive only until it comes up-to-date with the blockchain, and I mint only every 60 days for a day or two.
We have not yet seen a screenshot of the customer's system running Process Explorer.
Oops you're right ,I thought yours was theirs.
If your system is showing 100% disk useage, thats the first thing that needs to be sorted rather than concentrating on the CPU.
So please post screenshots of Taskmanager/Perfmon to show us as to what is happening with you system and especially the disks.
We also need to know what your disks are (single disk? RAID, if so how? etc etc) and also how they are partitioned so a screen shot from disk management would help as well

So what was the problem?
You have accepted Dr Klahn post as the solution but thats about CPU, your problem was originally about disk?

Properly installed Windows 10 does not use disk like that on a constant basis.
