pfSense IP Helper

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me if pfSense has IP Helper support? I've Googled and Youtube'd to no avail and thought where better to ask then trusty old Experts-Exchange.

The plan is to host multiple VLANs with a MS DHCP server hosted in my management VLAN

VLAN1010 - Management
VLAN1020 - WIFI
VLAN1030 - VOICE

I currently have a Cisco Router in place which has IP Helpers configured but this will be replaced with pfSense. I do not want to use the DHCP scopes from pfSense as I just want it to act as a perimeter device.

Any help?

Thanks

Yep you can use IP helpers in pfSense.  The caveat is that you can't use IP helpers (DHCP Relay in pfSense) if you use the pfSense as a DHCP server for ANY interface.

Hi Craig,

I can live with that. How would I configure the relays?

I'm assuming firewall rules need to be configured also?

Thanks

Ajay

No you don't have to configure firewall rules, just configure DHCP relay for each interface and the firewall will allow the traffic.

Apologies for the delay. DHCP relays worked! Thanks
