Performance testing on sharepoint

Does any experienced sharepoint admin here know ready-to-use tools that do performance tests on sharepoint servers?

I am trying to compare the effect of different hardware and software constellations on sharepoint 2016 . Looking around, I found this: http://sharepoint-community.net/profiles/blogs/performance-testing-sharepoint-with-25-page-sample-report which has the right ideas but does not give me a handy tool to use but instead suggests to record perftests using visual studio. I am not sure whether such a software even exists.

Yes, visual studio is a valid to do load testing on SharePoint. The article seems to be good, full of good information.

Good luck...

Since no suggestion for other tools came, I used Visual studio and it was manageable even for VS newbies like me.

This is a great questions that I would also like a good answer too. I have just been testing rather primitively I must say. If I ever find a way, I will let you know.

Have a good one!

We are still on it (not me, my colleague). Will let you know the results. We also looked at ab.exe ("apache benchmark") which is also rather primitive, but at least doesn't require the mammoth visual studio.
