hello all

I have created a view from a list on a site and created a web part of that view to use in another site. When I use the web part and try to save it the web part displays the original list and not this view. any ideas why this is happening. Also is there a limit to the number of views we can create on a list.

Are you changing the view from the web part properties dialog?

You can't set a limit on views, but you can control who creates views.

Good luck..

I cannot see the view in the web part properties dialog to change it..When I add the web part it shows the data correctly but when I try to save it, the view defaults to the master view. In the current view window I cannot see the view to select it.
The list has more than 50 views and I read somewhere that the limit is 50 views so is it because of that why its giving the error?

The limit of the drop down to select views is 50. You can have unlimited views, but you would need to know the url to get to the view if it is not in the drop down.

Here is a good link:

Hope that helps...
