There are any number of tools you can use depending on your infrastructure.

Do you have a VPN from your offsite location to the primary site?   What are you using to host your virtual machines, VMWare, HyperV, etc?  Is this something that is going to be permanent, or once you're done the initial configuration will you never need to use it again?

With a bit more information we'll be able to assist further.  Thanks!

No VPN .. I have just plugged it into a LAN with an existing SBS server .
The VM are running in hyper V and one of them will be replacing the SBS server on the network when I am through Once the initial configur
ation is over i will need to set something up to support it and the VMS which I can use RDP for ..

You could use a few things then.  Would any of these work?  You install and agent on the server and then access it from a web console for most of these from a home PC, or via a program for RDP.  Alternatively if you setup a VPN you could just straight up RDP.
