2012 Server Essentials R2 backup

I had this question after viewing Backing up Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials to multiple external USB hard drives.

I am setting up a new server with above software.  Backup options seem VERY limited.  Cannot skip weekends, cannot have more than 1 type of backup (a full image at 10PM, a files backup at 3AM,etc), it deletes the backup plan made previously;  no retention rules for deleting old backups.  I would like to have 5 external hard drives (Mon-Fri) switched daily.  Is this possible with the included software or do I need Novastore, Acronis, etc.
Thank you!

You can rotate 5 drives. But if you want media protection or any other options you listed, you'll have to go 3rd party. Not unique to essentials. Standard has the same limitations.

Appreciate your quick response.  VERY disappointing that Microsoft didn't do better for server software
