double click on hard drives on windows explorer - error

File Options on windows 7
the produced error is "this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action... " . I suspect the cmd on the top of device options (right click)

Windows knows cmd.exe but not just cmd.  Change to use cmd.exe.

I cannot reproduced this list above. How did you get it?  When I double click on a hard drive, another Explorer window opens.

normally you never see cmd when you right click on the hard drive. you may get other things in that list not sure how cmd appeared in the list.

arfer hours of googling I found the solution here :[Fix] “Cmd” is the Default Action for Folders (Right-click Menu)

I test it and it works nice!

glad you were able to resolve your own unusual problem, how this problem arizes is a mystery, but good thing there are registry entries to fix this problem.
