you probably can highlight the cell using Conditional Formatting but not to make it to flash.

Without VBA it is not possible. There is an option in Word to make text flash. Maybe an embedded Word document would solve the issue?

Can you explain more what you are trying to achieve?

Thanks

Tom has posted the VBA solution in microsoft page https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff193220.aspx

i was wondering if the same solution can be done without use of VBA. becuase my excel file users are affraid of opening a file other than xlsx ext.
