I have a document library in SharePoint 2013 with a Newsletter in it. I have created a column titled "Number of Views". Is there a formula I can use in the library settings page for the Column Settings to capture the number of times the newsletter has been viewed or opened?

There is nothing in the library settings that will enable the library to do what you want to do. This would be possible with some custom coding using probably jQuery and SPServices. You may also be able to use the SharePoint analytics, but not sure how that would work.

The idea is a good one though...
