Sync Global Address List between Exchange & Office 365

A client of mine runs Exchange 2010 and has recently been bought out by a parent company running Office 365. They are keeping these systems separate for the time-being, but would like the Global Address Lists of both companies to be periodically synced.
I've had a quick look and found a couple tools that could help with this, but am after some advice on the best and most secure way of doing this.

A colleague did mention that powershell may also be able to do this, which would be great as we could create a script and schedule it to run daily. I would have no idea where to start with that though.
