Why cant I receive emails from .mil addresses?
I have a users reporting that they cannot receive emails from .mil addresses. They can receive emails other external organizations such as gmail/Hotmail/ and from our email server, but not .mil.

You need to go to your whitelist capability (Exchange or other Spam Filter) and whitelist *.MIL

Even though this has never been an issue before
Spam filters "learn" and adapt over time, so something changed. That is normal.
check your dns settings. can your server resolve properly .mil domains ?
check your routing settings : can you contact these hosts ? try ping or udping. it is not very significant to get an answer since many hosts don't answer to pings but you'll get a message in case of routing issues.
check your servers logs : if the connection reaches the server, there is likely something in your logs telling you why the mail were rejected, rerouted, or whatever

Please get your user to get the ndr from "mil" user. The user at "mil" must have NDR which important for you to try troubleshooting

Whitelisted everything
*@mail.mil
*@.mil
waiting on results and NDR.

There are no NDR's either for the sender or receiver. Could this issue more than likely be on the other end?

just tested a message from an end users dot mil account to the company email inbox and it was delivered to my dot mil mailbox. Somehow I think they added the company email inbox as a contact or as an AD field internally and that’s causing the emails to be delivered to my dot mil Inbox.
What do mean by your latest statement? The .mil email address is source end and not belong to your company email address
It is fairly easy for a sender to use an alternate email address
ASKER
My end user (MCSE) conducted the test.
Sent email from their .mil account to their company email inbox, but instead it was delivered right back to the .mil account? strange

most likely there is a redirection on the customer's account or possibly a generic redirection performed by a server along the path. this is usually visible in the mail headers if you can grab a sample of the email, and will likely also show which server performed the redirection

@skullnobrains: asked for the tech support from opposite exchange admin & it was what I found earlier and something was changed on their end.
yes : they apparently setup a connector which redirects the email to a different domain.
you can confirm the email never reached your own server in the log.
you can determine which server did if you peek at the headers.

The issue ended up being on the other email server.
Thank you for the update and I was happy to help.
