Sign PDF document with digital PFX file from VB.NET 2010

Is there an easy way to sign PDF documents with a digital certificate from VB.NET code? If possible without using an third party tool.

I know your requirement is to do this withOUT a third party tool however my answer to your question is that it is way too complicated to answer.  You are not the first to ask this question and to get this disappointing answer.

See here where the accepted answer also advises against and explains why doing it yourself is difficult.

Read all the responses here which also advise against it.

Same sought of answer.

I am sure you already know this but it appears as iTextSharp is the third party tool of choice and here is a tutorial on using it.
